The Abbotsford Airshow is made possible through the support and participation of volunteers. Many friendships are built and memories made during the shared experience of producing Canada’s National Airshow. Thank You!
Guest Services is one of the most important positions at the Airshow! A smiling face and friendly, helpful disposition are a must! We have numerous opportunities for serving in various Airshow venues, hosting in our Chalets, Information Booth and Autograph Tent, and much more!
Some serving areas require volunteers to be 19 or older. ServingItRight™ and Foodsafe™ certifications are an asset as well.
During the show, there is a lot going on around the field. Supplies need to be delivered, patrons need to be moved around, and onfield maintenance is constant.
There are volunteers on the field before, during and after the show, many requiring specialty skills like construction, electrical or plumbing experience. If you’ve got these skills and want to help, let us know!
Parking and Traffic Direction
Getting 75,000 people on and off the airfield is no easy feat. Our parking & traffic volunteers help make this happen by ushering traffic where they need to go. They are also the first Airshow volunteers to greet our excited guests!
All volunteers for this crew should be 18 years of age or older.
Patron Safety & Security
Patron Safety & Security volunteers operate alongside local police and security personnel to keep our show and guests safe.
Volunteers for this crew should be 21 years or older and previous security or law enforcement experience is an asset.
This crew works before and after the Airshow transporting our loaner vehicles to the field for our visiting performers and returning them afterwards. During the show, our Transportation team helps shuttle patrons around the Airshow.
All volunteers must be 21 years or older. A valid BC Driver’s Licence and a Driver’s abstract are required.
It wouldn’t be an airshow with airplanes! In addition to our military and civilian performers, the Abbotsford Airshow attracts many general aviation fly-in patrons. These aircraft all need to be received and marshalled to the correct spot.
For safety reasons, volunteers in this area need to be familiar with aircraft and airport operations. Previous experience in these areas is required.
Airshow Setup and Take-Down
Much of the most critical work to make the Airshow possible happens long before our planes take to the sky. In May through August, many preparations are made to ready the Airport for the Airshow including:
- Grounds & Facility repairs
- Plumbing & Electrical preparations
Some of these preparations require special skills, but there is always work for everyone to help with at our pre-show Work Parties!
The Abbotsford Airshow holds work parties Weeknights & Saturdays June, July & August. If you are interested in participating, contact the Airshow office by the Friday before you want to help out for more instructions. Lunch and refreshments are offered for all who join us!
